Frank began studying music formally at the age of eleven and completed his first compositions almost immediately thereafter.  Even before then, however, he expressed an interest in music:  the ancient and out-of-tune piano at his grandmother's house and the various toys he would tear apart to tweak their sounds are some of his earliest memories.  Since then, he has continued to be fascinated by music and electronics.

In high school, his choice of instruments was a Casio keyboard; he spent several hours composing and programming music on his TI computer as well.  During this time, Frank was also expanding traditional musical skills by taking up the horn in F as well as the oboe.  He continued his studies throughout college and collaborated with several colleagues on various projects as a composer, writer, and performer.  He has also explored jazz and blues in addition to indigenous world music--particularly during his years abroad in Central Europe and Asia.  In 1997, he completed a Master of Arts in aesthetics from the University of Texas at Dallas.
